Geographic Server Load Balancing Now Recognized as Very High Availability Solution for Disaster Recovery Datacenters, Failover Environments and Managed Services
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 7, 2007) - Coyote Point Systems, Inc., the leading provider of server load balancing systems, announced the new performance-enhanced version of its Envoy Geoclustering System based on the most ambitious release to date of its Equalizer Series systems. Coyote Point's Equalizer Series products are the industry's most robust and reliable server load balancing systems with the enhanced Envoy Geoclustering System as the core Very High Availability component.
Significant enhancements such as Layer 4/7 performance and content compression, Akamai-friendly interoperability and server/cluster surge protection -- along with numerous other load balancing optimizations and advanced traffic management features -- make the Envoy Geoclustering System the industry's most cost-effective Very High Availability solution for disaster recovery datacenters, failover environments and managed services. The Envoy Geoclustering System is on display in Coyote Point's Booth #301 at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo.
"As a disaster recovery and managed hosting provider, it is imperative that we provide the highest levels of availability to both our DR and hosting clients," said Christopher Black, Director of Information Technology at DBSi, a premier provider of flexible Disaster Recovery, Business Continuance and secure Managed Hosting services. "By using Coyote Point's Envoy Geoclustering as a front-end, we are able to load balance between our data centers to enable almost any application to work natively in a distributed model. This improves service levels delivered to the end user and overall availability."
"Coyote Point is well established as the leader in server load balancing, and we're continuing to enhance our Envoy Geoclustering System to enable disaster recovery data centers and Very High Availability managed services," said Bill Kish, CEO/CTO and "Alpha Coyote" of Coyote Point Systems. "Envoy leverages the greatest set of release enhancements in Coyote Point's 10-year track record of delivering the industry's leading server load balancers with advanced traffic management features such as geographic server load balancing."
Coyote Point's Envoy Geoclustering System incorporates significant performance enhancements, optimized interoperability with Akamai environments and surge protection for servers and clusters. The enhancements were selected and refined to ensure that Coyote Point continues to serve customers' needs for the industry's best server load balancing for their application performance, disaster recovery and Very High Availability and requirements. New enhancements in include:
-- Performance Improvements: Updates to improve performance by up to 100 percent for all Equalizer Series models include select tunings such as optimizations to Layer 4/7 header performance and HTTP content compression, tunable parameter settings and numerous driver updates.
-- Akamai Compatibility: When Equalizer Series systems are used to load balance web services that use the Akamai Content Distribution Network (CDN), clients will connect first to the Akamai CDN instead of Equalizer. Typically, servers in the Akamai CDN will respond to some of the client requests directly, and send some of the requests on to the Equalizer cluster. Multiple client requests may be pipelined within a single connection, and each request may contain a cookie specifying a particular server in the cluster. The new release can be enabled to open as many server connections as necessary to satisfy all pipelined requests.
-- Server/Cluster Surge Protection: To ensure that servers and clusters do not exceed their delivery capacity, an Equalizer parameter can be set to establish a hard upper limit on the number of connections that can be established to a cluster or server. When the number of connections to a cluster or server reaches the limit, no new connections to that cluster or server will be made. A "Don't Persist" option can override session persistence.
Coyote Point's Envoy Geoclustering System is available as an option for Equalizer Series systems and is priced starting at $7,995.
