Coyote Point Provides Essential High-Availability Front End for Blade Server Consolidation

SAN JOSE, CA – October 16, 2007

Coyote Point Systems, Inc., the leader in Non-Stop, Affordable Application Availability(TM), announced that BC Networks, a leading IT Managed Services Provider and Coyote Point Partner, integrates Coyote Point Equalizer Series as the critical high-availability component of a server consolidation solution using HP BladeSystem.

"BC Networks is focused on server consolidation for insurance and healthcare using solutions that consolidate 10 servers into a single HP BladeSystem running a purpose-built combination of VMware, Oracle and a Fortinet security system alongside the essential Coyote Point load balancing system," said Dave Brewer, President of BC Networks. "The tricky thing with blades is that you need to equip the blade servers for non-stop availability, which requires the highly intelligent Coyote Point Equalizer Series load balancer".

BC Networks Managed Services Program is a comprehensive and flexible service designed specifically for small to mid-sized businesses. It combines essential services like real-time monitoring, security management, proactive maintenance, system administration and end-user support. Coyote Point's Equalizer Series systems provide the requisite intelligent traffic management to enable these integrated capabilities in a managed services environment.

"Blade servers and virtualization have come a long way in terms of providing a robust consolidation platform for industries such as insurance and healthcare," said Bill Kish, CEO/CTO and "Alpha Coyote" of Coyote Point Systems. "To equip a managed service based on blade servers, such as BC Networks Managed Services Program, for the non-stop availability required by customers in these industries, load balancing is an essential component, and our partners continue embrace Coyote Point as their preferred alternative over other far more expensive and difficult-to-use alternatives".

BC Networks sells a turnkey blade server-based managed services solution, which requires a good fit in terms of comparable price points across the blade, load balancing and security components. The goal is to get the customer up and running as quickly as possible with a highly engineered, purpose-built solution. In healthcare, for example, HIPAA privacy requirements necessitate that systems being consolidated need to be on the most available, most secure platform, and the best way to improve security is to reduce the number of moving parts. "With the blade server's n+1 capabilities for power, connectivity and management, it better be a water-tight solution," said Brewer.

Blade servers provide BC Networks' customers with a level of control, availability and visibility that is an order of magnitude better than with conventional servers, enabling cost savings from consolidation to transform into a genuine cost-of-ownership advantage. Load balancing provides the blade server solution with the ability to scale out. Using global server load balancing, it becomes straightforward to deploy multiple, redundant sites with disaster recovery capabilities. Additional advantages of Coyote Points Equalizer Series load balancer include SSL acceleration for encrypted communications, sticky sessions using Layer 7 application traffic management and superior performance for continuous connections.

"Coyote Point offers excellent performance, exceptional stability and extremely flexible operations," said Brewer. "Blades need a high-availability component, and when we advise application developers that we are using a Coyote Point system to provide the essential load balancing, they are invariably happy".
