Coyote Point and iXsystems' New "Modular Data Center In A Box" Is Finalist for LinuxWorld's "Best Clustering Platform" Product Excellence Award

Open Sourcing Integration Alliance Bears Fruit With Very High Availability and Ultra Scalable Performance for Web-Based Application Delivery

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 7, 2007) - Coyote Point Systems, Inc., the leading provider of server load balancing systems, and iXsystems, a leading provider of enterprise servers for open source, announced that their "Modular Data Center In A Box" Aral Cluster Platform solution has been recognized as a finalist for LinuxWorld Conference & Expo's "Best Clustering Platform" Product Excellence Award.

Coyote Point and iXsystems recently teamed up to deliver the new solution based on Aral Cluster Platform with iXsystems' Thermal Channel Transfer. The integrated solution incorporates Coyote Point's Equalizer Series servers load balancing and traffic management systems to provide Very High Availability and Ultra Scalable Performance for Web-Based Application Delivery. The new solution is on display in Coyote Point's Booth #301 at LinuxWorld.

The resulting "Modular Data Center In A Box" clustering platform provides greater application and network intelligence than conventional server clusters through integration of Equalizer Series' virtual clustering technology combined with the Aral Cluster Platform's modular design and heat dissipation efficiency. The solution is ideal for equipping enterprise-class Linux and BSD-based infrastructures, collocation sites and managed services that require high-performance server application clusters.

"The Aral Cluster Platform takes traditional server clustering to a new level," said Bill Kish, Alpha Coyote for Coyote Point Systems. "Our new 'Modular Data Center In A Box' provides intelligent distribution of application and network service load to optimally provision server resources. Most clustering technologies were designed to provide either brute-force processing power or hot-standby functionality. Aral was designed from the ground up to improve application availability and cluster performance."

"The Aral Cluster Platform integrates Aral servers and iSCSI, SAN or NAS storage with Coyote Point's industry-leading server load balancing for extremely scalable virtual clustering with instant failover," said Michael Lauth, CEO of iXsystems. "The Aral Cluster Platform provides Very High Availability server, storage and network infrastructure with outstanding uptime, performance and dependability at a very palatable price. When the time comes to deploy a new data center, collocation site or high performance application server cluster, you have two choices. Go out and source the racks, servers and a network gear then break out the tool box, or consider the Aral Cluster platform integrated with Coyote Point's Equalizer Series load balancers."

Both companies have an extensive track record of delivering Open Source products and solutions. iXsystems was formerly BSDi and specializes in Linux and BSD-based solutions. Coyote Point's Equalizer Series is based on BSD operating system technologies which are commercialized by vendors such as Coyote Point through the Berkeley license, which enables the rapid and unencumbered development of advanced system technologies and intellectual property leveraging open source innovation.

"As a Coyote Point partner since 2001, we view the new Aral Cluster platform as a valuable solution for our customers that need to build powerful infrastructures -- from any Web-based business to the largest enterprise clients who demand top availability and scalable performance from their application network infrastructures," said Alan Choyna, Director of Infrastructure for Pathfinder, a leading provider of user experience design, application development and infrastructure development. "I know firsthand what power and flexibility Coyote Point Systems provides in regards to High Availability and Scalability to any system in a surprisingly easy to implement and manage package, so I am happy to see their alliance with a proven server provider such iXsystems."

The Modular Datacenter in a Box solution can include up to 30 [dual core] servers running Linux, BSD and/or Windows, two Coyote Point Equalizer Series Layer 4/7 systems with integrated Ethernet switching in hot-failover mode and up to 48 Terabytes for iSCSI, NAS or SAN storage and can be further equipped with VMware or other virtualization solutions. The solution incorporates significant advances in the latest version of Coyote Point's Equalizer Series, including performance enhancements, optimized interoperability with Akamai environments and surge protection for servers and clusters. The enhancements were selected and refined to ensure that Coyote Point continues to serve customers' needs for the industry's best server load balancing for their Very High Availability, Ultra Scalable Performance and Instant Disaster Recovery requirements.

The Aral Cluster Platform has a space-saving rack design that is more efficient than traditional rack designs. Because heat is always an issue for rack-dense designs, iXsystems' Thermal Channel Transfer technology pulls the heat from the servers via a unique vectored heat exhaust system. Waste heat is delivered to the top of the rack for collection, or exhausted up and away from other sensitive equipment.
In an Aral cluster, a pair of 2U half-depth servers fit back-to-back in the space that would normally accommodate a single server in a traditional rack design. Power and cooling are delivered via the central thermal channel providing a neat and efficient result that's easy to maintain. Front-facing I/O is a key element of the Aral Cluster Platform with key connectors on the front panel to simplify console access and make cable management easy.

The Aral Cluster Platform is available from iXsystems immediately priced starting at $50,000.
